1. Can you use anti-aging products if you have sensitive skin or are prone to rosacea?
Yes, but not in just any order. On reactive skin, the skin barrier is depleted: available studies show diminished ceramides and altered lipid organization. As a result, everything penetrates faster—including anti-aging active ingredients—and tolerance collapses. This explains why anti-aging routines typically fail on this type of skin. It isn't the active ingredient that is at fault; it is the barrier that wasn't in a state to receive it. The principle of this duo is reversed: the cream rebuilds the lipid cement while the serum works on skin texture. You nourish first, you correct afterwards.
2. What is a "retinol-like" active ingredient? How does it differ from retinol?
Retinol works by accelerating keratinocyte renewal and supporting collagen synthesis in the dermis. Its drawback is inseparable from its mechanism: over the first few weeks, it frequently causes what dermatologists call retinoid dermatitis—redness, flaking, and a burning sensation. On already reactive skin, this phase is most often prohibitive. NovoRetin™ is a plant-based alternative that targets the same benefits—refining texture, evening out complexion, supporting firmness—with a very different tolerance profile: no retinization phase, no flaking.
3. How long does it take for an anti-aging treatment to work on wrinkles?
Longer than most brands suggest, and it is better to know this before buying. The epidermis renews itself in about 28 days in young adults, and this cycle lengthens with age. An active ingredient that acts on cell renewal therefore needs at least two full cycles—or 6 to 8 weeks—to produce a visible effect on fine lines, and results continue to improve up to three months of regular use. What you will notice sooner: comfort from the first few days, radiance and skin texture around the third or fourth week. Established wrinkles come last. 4. In what order should serum and cream be applied?
In the morning, on clean skin: the serum first, the cream second. The rule in cosmetic dermatology is constant—from thinnest to richest. A serum applied over a cream does not cross the film it has formed and does not reach its target. Leave a minute between the two layers, the time for the serum to be absorbed. On mature or very dry skin, you can repeat the application in the evening: it is consistency that yields results on wrinkles, more so than quantity. One point not to be overlooked: none of our skincare products contain SPF. Apply your sun protection over the cream once it has been absorbed. On skin prone to redness, sun exposure is both a documented trigger and the primary avoidable factor of skin aging—it is the most cost-effective anti-aging step of the day, before any active ingredient.
5. Can it be combined with other active ingredients: acids, vitamin C, retinol?
Hyaluronic acid is already present in both formulas, so there is no interaction to fear on that front. However, do not combine this duo with a conventional retinol: you would be accumulating two active ingredients from the same family on skin that would not tolerate it. The same caution applies to exfoliating acids (AHAs, BHAs) and frequent scrubs—on reactive skin, repeated exfoliation, whether chemical or mechanical, maintains precisely the barrier weakening that this duo seeks to correct. Vitamin C can be combined, but space them out: vitamin C in the morning, duo in the evening, or vice versa. If in doubt, ask for a dermatologist's advice—they are the one who knows your skin.
6. Is there an adjustment period, or any redness or peeling in the first few days?
This is not expected with this formulation, and that is precisely its purpose: "purging" and flaking are characteristic of conventional retinol, not plant-based alternatives. If a sensation of heating appears nonetheless, space the serum out to every other day for a week while keeping the cream daily, then resume the full rhythm. Always apply to perfectly dry skin: skin that is still damp increases penetration and reactivity. If discomfort persists beyond a few days, stop and consult a professional.
7. At what age should you start?
There is no threshold age, there is a signal: when the skin begins to lose density and radiance, and fine lines remain visible after smiling. This generally occurs between 30 and 40 years of age, earlier in cases of significant sun exposure or smoking. If redness is your primary concern, start with the cream alone or with the oil + cream duo. The serum finds its place when redness is under control and you are moving on to skin texture and firmness.
